GRB Students Learn From Land Surveyor At School
G R Bodley High School students in Jesse Weigand's construction class learned land surveying from John S. Damiano of Advanced Information Systems. Damiano, a 30 year licensed surveyor, explained duties and demonstrated modern equipment to locate pre determined survey points in the classroom. The session included hands on practice with accurate point setting and career insights.

Haist dominates Pumpkinfest with record gourd win
Karl Haist of Erie County again took top honors at the CNN Great Pumpkin Festival in Oswego, tying his state pumpkin record at 1,969.0 pounds and claiming the state squash record at 1,511.5 pounds among 30 contestants. Oswego experienced a bone dry July with limited thunderstorm activity and warm days signaling a mild autumn. Summer began June 20 and ended Sept 22 at 10 21 a m per local NWS observer Bill Gregway. Precip totaled 9.82 inches for the season, 0.09 above average, with 29 of 92 days seeing rain and a peak 2.07 inches on Aug 21. The three summer months averaged 71.0 degrees, 2.2 above average, while the year’s total rainfall stood at 23.72 inches, 2.29 inches below normal. The warmest summer on record remains 2005 with a 94 degree high on Aug 12.
