Boy with rare disease gains new skin via gene therapy
In a landmark unsigned report Doctors in Italy and Germany used experimental gene therapy to grow and transplant lab grown skin covering 80 percent of a seven year old boy with functional epidermolysis bullosa. After two years he is medication free, back in school and playing soccer.
