Hannibal adopts budget with limited raises and tax cut
Hannibal Town Board approved the 2016 budget at a public hearing despite objections to proposed employee raises. The plan nets 1,262,818 in tax revenue to cover 2,069,513 in spending, with funds from reserves and other revenue. The tax rate drops from 5.10 to about 4.85 per thousand, aided by higher assessed values for farm and vacant land. Fire district levy rises to 1.83 per thousand. board cites state mandates and limited control.
