Granby Man Charged With Animal Cruelty After Puppy Suffering

State police charged 63 year old John P. Fatcherie with aggravated cruelty to animals after a witness saw him slam a yellow Labrador retriever puppy to the ground on Terry Lane in Granby. The puppy needed surgery for a broken femur and signs of strangulation. He is due in Granby Town Court on June 13 at 7 p.m.

Parish man charged after frying pan attack in Volney

Oswego County deputies charged Edward J. Horning 25 of Parish with second degree menacing third degree assault fourth degree obstruction of breathing and fourth degree criminal mischief after a domestic dispute in Volney. Horning arraigned in Volney Town Court remanded to jail on 250 cash or 500 bond and due back June 6. Health science fair at Fairgrieve Elementary highlighted student projects on habitats astronomy and chemistry with books sold and aerobic dances in the gym.

Public sessions on energy plan at Oswego City Hall

Community leaders and PSC supporters attend Oswego meetings to review a clean energy standard aimed at sustaining nuclear plants. The sessions, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., follow Entergy’s plan to close FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant in Scriba, risking 600 plus jobs as gas costs rise. State officials push incentives to keep nuclear and expand renewables with a goal of 50 percent power from renewables. The PSC expects final rules next month and hopes to shield Nine Mile Point and Ginna plants from similar losses.

Novelis opens third auto-finishing line at Oswego plant

Novelis commissioned a 120 million auto finishing line at its Oswego facility on Monday, the third such state of the art line in Oswego. The system expands high strength aluminum supply for Ford F-Series trucks and strengthens Novelis position as North America’s leading automotive sheet supplier. CEO Steve Fisher said the global footprint and expertise enable serving automakers in major regions.

Oswego IDA approves financing for three projects

Oswego County IDA approved three straight lease financing agreements for Tailwater Lodge Central New York Raceway Park and Novelis Corp. The deals may add up to 258 permanent jobs over three years plus numerous construction roles and increased payroll and sales tax revenues for the county.

Oswego Council OKs Downtown Revitalization Application

Oswego officials unanimously approved the citys Downtown Revitalization Initiative application. The statewide competition awards 10 places with 10 million each, chosen by regional councils, with a May 31 deadline. Mayor Billy Barlow backed a committee led by Justin Rudgick and Amy Birdsall to craft Oswegos submission.
