State official says Clinton email practices not acceptable
Joyce Barr, State Department chief FOIA officer, told a Senate hearing that it is not acceptable for any employee to conduct government business on a private email server as Hillary Clinton did. She said the department now clearly warns staff that such practices fail to meet record keeping requirements and that training and notices are under way. Barr also flagged an 18 000 request backlog as unacceptable while promising improvements despite understaffing.

Algae Fed Lake Erie Could Boost Asian Carp Invasion
USGS researchers warn Lake Erie's rising algae supplies more green and blue green blooms that feed bighead and silver carp. Satellite data from 2002 to 2011 show areas with abundant food, especially in the western basin, threatening sportfishing via a potential ecosystem shift.
