Time-worn shipwreck washes ashore near Sandy Pond
A 348 gross ton schooner skeleton, likely the John Burt built in Detroit in 1871, washed ashore near Big Sandy Point after storms. The remains, about 50 feet long with ribs and hull planks, were found near Sandy Pond and later donated artifacts to the H. Lee White Marine Museum.
