CiTi Student Receives Certificate and Alarm Clock

CiTi student Cassandra Remington receives a certificate of recognition and a bed vibrating alarm clock from CiTi Exceptional Education Supervisor Michele Alagna. Remington earned the prize by writing a letter about her need for the alarm clock. Oswego Elks Lodge donated the clock to aid CiTi’s deaf and hard of hearing students remain independent with daily tasks.

Agency delays plan to block Asian carp at Brandon Road

The U S Army Corps of Engineers delays releasing a draft plan to install new technologies or other steps to block Asian carp from reaching Lake Michigan. Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow named Randy Griffin a 30 year veteran of fire and emergency management as the new chief of the Oswego Fire Department Griffin grew up in Palermo and has degrees from SUNY Oswego and Syracuse University He previously served with the Dewitt Fire Department and was a captain before returning to Oswego to lead a department Barlow said Griffin will bring leadership and management strengths to transform the OFD into a trusted and prideful agency

Oswego Chamber unveils Center State CEO partnership

Oswego leaders heard Executive Director Katie Toomey address about 215 business officials at the Greater Oswego-Putton Chamber of Commerce annual meeting. The event at the Lake Ontario Event Center launched a formal partnership with Center State CEO, a Syracuse based regional business support group, aimed at assisting local firms. Toomey said she returned home to help her hometown prosper. Center State will absorb much of the back end operations under the new alliance.
