Sterling Stage marks its 20th anniversary season and 80th festival as the group funds scholarships via Schol arship America. Students tour historic tugboat Urger on Oswego River
Fourth graders from Charles E Riley Elementary boarded the 75 foot Urger anchored on the Oswego River for a hands on history visit. The Urger built in 1901 is the oldest working tugboat in North America and the Canal Corporation uses it to teach New York canal system history. The eastern half of its statewide tour ends after arriving from Champlain.

Clinton County DA Andrew Wylie says Joyce Mitchell discussed having inmates Richard Matt and David Sweat kill her husband Lyle Mitchell, who also works at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora. Sweat and Matt fled the 170 year old prison on June 6 and remain at large. Mitchell, a tailoring shop instructor, helped befriend the inmates and was arrested.

Arbor Day Honey Locust Tree Cut Down In Oswego Park
Oswego Tree Stewards report a four-year-old honey locust planted in Veterans Park on Arbor Day was found cut down on Tuesday. DPW notes the tree had a large root structure and likely was sawed, possibly vandalism. Police unaware of the incident. mayor not reached for comment. The stewards plan to replant and urge community vigilance.
