Dredging efforts begin anew on Lake Neatahwanta
Granby volunteers from the Lake Neatahwanta Reclamation Committee have started dredging in the southwest portion of Lake Neatahwanta to remove sediment and debris. Ed Williamson said the setup is complete with dredge and pilot boats in the water and more than 600 feet of pipe installed to reach offshore. Fred St Onge reported the team completed water work and began dredging as outside weed-harvesting help arrived, aiding progress. The operation, delayed by weather and theft of tools, aims to restore depth and reduce warm water and algae growth that have plagued the lake since 1988, with the Fulton based revitalization group and city pursuing ongoing lake improvements.
