Oswego’s Kay elected SUNY faculty Senate president
Gwen Kay, longtime director of SUNY Oswego’s Honors Program, was sworn in as president of the SUNY University Faculty Senate and a nonvoting member of the SUNY Board of Trustees. She is the first woman and the first SUNY Oswego appointee to hold the post, serving a two year term with a possible second. Kay will represent about 30 000 faculty across more than 30 four year SUNY campuses and will participate in policy discussions while visiting SUNY campuses and serving on key committees. She aims to strengthen faculty governance and cross campus collaboration building on SUNY’s education and research priorities. Kay holds a Yale PhD in history of medicine and science and a Bowdoin BA in biology and history. Her research explores gender and science in higher education.

Lawmaker calls extra toll revenue shared with counties
Democratic Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi of Utica proposes diverting out of state E-ZPass cash toll revenue to local road projects. He cites a AAA study showing over 92 million out of state E-ZPass users paid cash rates on New York City bridges and tunnels, with about 70 million from New Jersey. Brindisi argues the state should allocate some of that money locally.
