Landmark Fulton church keeps faith with roof repair drive
State Street United Methodist Church in Fulton presses on with funding to finish repairs to its aging roof and bell tower. After a 2013 capital plan, an urgent 2014 retrofit led to a loan, now to be paid off through ongoing community fundraising including a July 16 big fundraiser at The Bargain Shoppe with bag sales, furniture yard sale, and ice cream to benefit the roof fund. The historic 1894 building hosts monthly dinners and bimonthly Helping Hands giveaways, serving residents and maintaining a local landmark.

Fulton and CSEA face impasse in labor talks
Fulton officials and CSEA remain at an impasse over wages as negotiations with a mediator are scheduled for July 29. Mayor Ron Woodward cited limited city finances and a 2 percent raise given last year after a two year freeze, with the union representing Parks and Recreation and Public Works staff among those affected. Local officials say fiscal constraints jeopardize future raises despite praise for workers.
