Walmart shutters Sam's Club network amid wage boost plan
Walmart confirms closure of 63 Sam's Club stores over weeks with up to 10,000 employees impacted, while it raises starting pay and awards one time bonuses. The company will convert up to 12 clubs into distribution centers and says some workers may transfer to other Walmart locations. The move follows a broader tax reform powered wage hike affecting more than a million U S hourly workers and other benefits.
