Four essential documents to retain control of your wishes
Four key documents help you retain control over your decisions. A will names how assets are distributed and an executor, a guardian for minor children, and becomes effective at death. A health care power of attorney appoints who makes medical decisions if you cannot. A durable financial power of attorney designates who handles finances. A living will outlines treatment preferences if you cannot speak. Update annually and keep in trusted places. Robert Rolfe of Harmony Financial Services notes importance and encourages attorney drafting.
