False Duck Light Named Sailors of Danger on Lake Ontario
Maritime historian Richard Palmer highlights Lake Ontario shipwrecks and port history in a piece tracing False Duck Light on False Duck Island near Prince Edward County. The 75 foot beacon, built in 1828 and long used to warn mariners, was decommissioned in 1965 and replaced by a modern light, with the tower’s beacon now housed at Mariners Park Museum in Prince Edward County.
