Cuomo Urges End to Pensions for Convicted Officials
Gov. Andrew Cuomo called it insulting that taxpayers fund pensions for officials found guilty of corruption and urged a constitutional amendment to retroactively strip such pensions. Ex-Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and Ex-Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver receive $95,831 and $79,222 annually, respectively, under a 2011 law that does not apply retroactively. Both have sought appeals to overturn their convictions.
