New trial granted for local man in rape case
An appeals court granted Joseph A. Stefanovich a new trial. The 45 year old Liverpool man was convicted in Oswego County Court in 2014 of raping a woman in 2005 and is serving 20 years at Attica Correctional Facility. The court found ineffective counsel from trial attorney Edward Szyk, claiming his strategy compromised Stefanovichs right to a fair trial.
