Tragic Quebec House Fire Kills 12 Family Members
In Nova Scotia Quebec near Montreal Mrs Marjorie Vosburgh 43 and 11 of her 15 children perished when an oil stove explosion ignited a small wooden house at about 3 am. Firemen found Mrs Vosburgh among the first casualties and her husband Abel survived with burns after trying to rescue the family. The dead include Doris 19 Ray 17 Richard 15 Phyllis 13 Katherine 10 Audrey 9 Beverley 7 Robert 4 Caroline 3 Leo 1 and Dwayne 6 months. The four other children were away from home at the time. Gladys 21 and Gertrude 22 are married. Irvin 18 works nearby and Allan 11 was visiting relatives.

Girl Killed as Cars Hit Head On Near Tipton
In Tipton Indiana a snow packed road six miles northeast of Tipton saw an 11 year old girl, Vicki Lynn Hamilton of Windfall, die minutes after a head on crash between cars driven by her estranged parents. Her mother Eleanor Hamilton, 31, and father Philip Hamilton, 33, were seriously injured along with Joyce Long, 24, of Windfall. The collision occurred as both vehicles approached the Hamilton home where they were headed to pick up her brother. Both drivers said they recognized the other car before impact but could not avoid the collision.
