Students in Fulton City School District universal pre kindergar ten program performed holiday classics in G Ray Bodley High School auditorium for hundreds of attendees. Santa made a surprise appearance as part of the December winter concerts showcasing musical talents across FCSD schools.
Fulton City School District and Team Sheldon partner with SUNY Oswego for the Oswego Writing Institute "Teaching Writing, Teaching Writers" on August 14 and 15 at the Marano Campus Center. Over 100 teachers from central New York are expected, with FCSD's Carri Waloven coordinating.
In Oswego County the Assembly members Will Barclay and Robert Oaks outline goals for the 2017 session. Both Republicans entering their 8th and 13th terms emphasize fiscal conservatism, streamlined government, and reducing state tax burdens while supporting local schools jobs and industry.
Oswego Animal Shelter logged over 1,000 animals in 2016 and received a Christmas season outpouring from local supporters. Carrie Anderson said volunteers filled the lobby with canned food, toys, and grooming items for the shelter’s capacity of 15 to 20 dogs and more than 100 cats at 621 East Seneca Street.
As the Oswego County Land Bank wraps its first year it plans to request an additional 1 million in state grants while taking control of a new property and proceeding with demolitions. The board revealed a 46 property acquisition target over two years with about 15 slated for demolition and others to be sold. The city of Oswego contributed 50,000 to support startup efforts, and Mayor Billy Barlow emphasized city partnership and expected results.
