Paraplegic Uses Car As Battering Ram

John McClure, 37, of Reseda, described as paraplegic, used a hand controlled car to strike a building where former nurse Ellen Burn, 42, worked as a bookkeeper. He rammed her desk, attempted to run her down, and crashed into a parked car. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Testimony conflicts in Navy fire probe on Constellation disaster

Naval Court of Inquiry heard conflicting testimony on who spiked the diesel fuel that caused the Constellation fire at Brooklyn Navy Yard. The blaze killed 49 workers and gutted the carrier under construction. Fork lift operator Leroy Davis testified he left his lift away from the trash bin and did not see the incident.
