Fitzhugh Park Hosts All Hands on Deck Luncheon Honors Students
Oswego Fitzhugh Park Elementary hosted its All Hands on Deck awards luncheon on December 14 with Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow Police Chief Tory DeCaire and Fire Chief Randy Griffin meeting students from all grades. First grade teacher Tim Barbeau coordinates the monthly program recognizing positive choices with certificates and a class winner lunch.

Autumn Warring edged 14 competitors to win the Mexico Middle School spelling bee in the auditorium. Principal Kim Holliday pronouncer and judges Ashley Riordan and Cathy Shawcross oversaw rounds. Finalists Cosette Laffan Tyler Samson and Avery Mack also advanced to the next written test on January 13 at Onondaga Community College.

Oswego Music Hall of Fame honors two local scholars
The Oswego Music Hall of Fame awarded two $1,000 Joseph P. Spereno Scholarships to Leah Mullen and Sophie Woods, both Oswego youths pursuing music. Mullen, an Oswego High student, performed at the induction and aims for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in vocal performance. Woods, a blues rock artist at Molloy College, majors in music therapy. Applications for the scholarship are due Feb 1, and donors can support Keep the Music Playing through the New Year’s Eve fundraiser at the American Folk.
