Kerrie Ann Webb executive director oversees volunteers as the Oswego YMCA starts its annual telethon to fund year-end giving. In 2017 the charity provided nearly $60,000 in free or reduced fee memberships to low income families and individuals in Oswego. Calls run through December with donations accepted at 315-342-6082.
SUNY Oswego launches its 30th annual toy drive with Oswego County Social Services collecting gifts for low income children. Campus lobbies display ornamented trees listing ages and gift suggestions. Faculty staff and students pick ornaments, buy gifts, and return them by December 6 or 13 for distribution in Laker Hall. Casey Walpole of Facilities Services leads the effort and coordinates across buildings. For donations, send checks to SUNY Oswego Toy Drive care of Walpole Room 303A Park SUNY Oswego Oswego NY 13126.
Mexico High School students and staff wore blue during Jeans Day to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The event, aligned with National Diabetes Awareness Month in November, collected 185 dollars for JDRF to aid Type 1 diabetes research. a similar fund raising day is planned at Mexico Middle.
