The Oswego County Academic Youth League held its second STEM focused competition with eight schools. Students built parachutes from everyday materials to complete two challenges: launch a parachute the length of the gym to hit a target with accuracy, then test the descent rate of the parachute.
Emerson Dillon Middle School students joined a random acts of kindness theme while competing in the OCAY League. Teams tested egg parachutes, using slow descent to protect a fragile payload, with Oswego winning gold, Fulton silver, and Mexico bronze amid quizzes in math, physics, and military history.
