Survived by daughters Karen Gadziala and Joanne Stone sister Norma Fairly four grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral from St Marys Church at 9 a.m. Saturday with burial in St Peters Cemetery. Born in Oswego he was the son of Samuel and Esther Familo and father to Lillian Irene John Samuel Dorothy and Alice with 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Survived by sisters Genevieve Loughrey and Marie Bellow and companion Arlene DiBello. He was a WWII veteran an Oswego High School graduate and worked as an accountant for Papertronics Hammermill and Rudys. In retirement he ran 19 marathons between ages 75 and 80. Vester Flanagan II, known as Bryce Williams, fired on air at Bridgewater Plaza while reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward were conducting a tourism interview. Parker and Ward died at the scene. Gardner was hospitalized in stable condition. Flanagan fled, later died by suicide after posting video and a 23-page manifesto claiming revenge for racial discrimination and harassment. He previously left WDBJ after hostile incidents and EEOC complaints.
