Oswego DA urges parole board to deny Jones release
Oswego County District Attorney Greg Oakes urged the state parole board to deny release for Alan Jones who killed his 11 year old stepsister Erin Maxwell nine years ago. Jones, now 36, is serving a reduced manslaughter sentence of five to 15 years and has been denied parole twice. Oakes said the sentence does not fit the crime and called Jones undeserving of mercy. He noted a parole hearing set for June 27 and said even if denied, Jones could be eligible for conditional release in October 2018. Oakes urged public input to keep him imprisoned.
