Unit 1 returns to service at Nine Mile Point nuclear plant

Exelon officials announced that Unit One at the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Generating Facility in Scriba is back online after a three week refueling outage begun March 20. About one third of the reactor's fuel was replaced in a two year cycle, with roughly 1,200 workers involved. The restart follows Exelon’s acquisition of the adjacent James A. FitzPatrick plant, which completed its own outage earlier this year after Entergy announced plans to shutter the 40 year old facility.
