Ranger Transferred After Fatal Boat Accident at Lees Ferry
National Park Ranger Richard E. Hoffman has been moved to Lees Ferry following the death of Philip Martin in a boating accident in the Lees Ferry rapids last month. Hoffman will operate from the Park Service headquarters and patrol the Lees Ferry area. William Gentless serves as Park Service maintenance at Lees Ferry. Camp Farthest Out will be held at Bright Angel Lodge, Grand Canyon, April 2 through 8 with nondenominational meetings and social events. For information call Mrs. Gage at 645-2850.

The Sand Devils of Page High School showed strongly at Holbrook Arizona March 20 with Winslow scoring 50 points to Kingman 27. Page placed 3rd in several events. Tommy Self won pole vault 10 ft 9 in and was 4th in broad jump. Arthur Hall won high jump 5 ft 9 in. Dean Bousman 2nd in 120 yd high hurdles and 180 yd low hurdles. Dennis Poole 4th in 440 yd. Bill Harding 5th in discus 126 ft 4 in. Dennis Sud deth 6th in shot 40 ft 10 in. The team appears in contention for the B North Crown.

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Superintendent Gus Muehlenhaupt and wife attended the Southwest Region National Park Service Superintendents convention at Padre Island Texas. About thirty ranger recruits from Horace M. Albright Training Center visited Wahweap Park Service HQ last Friday March 25. Rangers explained operations of the recreation area as recruits begin three months of ranger training through field trips and hands on park management study.
