Dr. R. E. Sutherland, located in the Mesa Theatre Building, will care for Page residents by appointment. This health service marks a local effort to improve access to medical attention in the community. Appointments can be scheduled through the Mesa Theatre Building office.
The Meet Eat N Talk Club surprised Tenney Elder at the Empire House with a head table seating and birthday cake as members sang. Other birthdays among the 28 attendees were noted, with Miss Elder singled out for the club’s thanks. Reservations are taken by several callers, and Tenney often leads calls and lists. Page people gathered for a Saturday pancake breakfast at Community Methodist Church, organized by Methodist Men led by Frank Lansberry.
A vintage luncheon feature presents Nut Bread with Cottage Cheese Salad and Buttermilk. The recipe yields a thick batter with walnuts and molasses, baked in a leaf loaf pan, cooled on a rack. Serve warm or cold with fruit and cottage cheese salad, or substitute whole milk.
Hank Fazzone of General Electric at Glen Canyon Powerhouse set a new Lake Powell bass record with a 5 pound 9 ounce fish, 16 inches long, caught January 2 in Rock Canyon with Roger Golliard. They used water dogs for bait and released any bass under three pounds. contest held at Babbitt's. Carl Johnson retains the trout record at 4 pounds 9 ounces 21 inches, and Charles M. Burns holds the biggest catfish at 3 pounds 3 ounces, 21 inches. No registration needed to enter. weigh in at Babbitt's.
