Train Wreck Blamed on Robbers West of Osage City

A Santa Fe express derailed near Osage City after rails were blocked by train robbers. Arrest in Ohio after church carpet theft shocks parishioners

Wreck on Mount Joy Branch Kills Fireman Colwell

A fatal collision on the Mount Joy branch near Pierin Pennsylvania at 2:25 AM involved the Philadelphia express and the Pacific express. Fireman William Colwell, 32, of Philadelphia, died after both engines and two express cars were wrecked. Engineer Samuel H. Tilly was badly injured, and others sustained injuries as crews rerouted trains.

Wreck at Shreve causes eight dead in rail clash

An early morning collision near Shreve, Ohio on the Pittsburg Fort Wayne and Chicago line left eight people dead and nine injured. Five freight and two engine cars burned as crews failed to heed orders to hold for an express, triggering a head end crash two miles from Shreve. Rescue work began promptly with local help and dispatches to railroad officials.
