Groundbreaking Marks Start of Southwestern College in Memphis

Ground broken for Southwestern College of the Mississippi Valley at Memphis as grading begins on a spur track from the Louisville & Nashville line to the campus site on North Parkway. The 100 acre wooded tract will host buildings and be connected by a self-financing rail spur to ease materials handling. Funds pledged by Memphis citizens and synod supporters total about 1.5 million dollars with a target opening in September 1923.

The Daughters of the American Revolution chapter in Oxford seeks to preserve Lafayette County history by collecting old wills deeds land titles letters and family records. They ask residents to share copies or information and note graves of Revolutionary soldiers to be marked by the government.
