Mississippi Urges Statewide War Labor Campaign

Mississippi urges 50 men from every county be released from non essential work within thirty days to join war industries. Women will fill vacancies, with federal guidance stressing patriotic duty and no wage loss. Local boards, loyalty leagues, and defense councils push rapid, voluntary compliance and civilian sacrifice to meet a 4 000 man shortfall in skilled labor. Mississippi citizens are asked to volunteer and cooperate with U S Employment Service officials in Meridian.

Fourth Liberty Loan Drive Praised For County Effort

The Liberty Loan Committee reports Lafayette County over subscribed its $150000 quota by more than 20000 and the nation as a whole exceeded its $6 billion target. The Eight Federal Reserve District led in going over the top with Mississippi ranking third among states. Officials thank the public and especially the women for their service amid the influenza epidemic.
