County school meet draws large Lafayette crowd

A Lafayette county school meet drew about a thousand at Oxford with boys and girls competing in races jumps and field events. Paris High dominated several events leading to overall county championship as Free Springs and Oxford also performed strongly.

New threshing enterprise opens near Oxford square

In Lafayette county a new threshing enterprise debuts near Oxford square featuring a full outfit with velvet beans sorghum seed soy beans oats wheat rye and a pennt picker. Parts of the machinery have been bought. Lafayette county ginned 1905 bales of cotton in 1917 18 down from 4914 bales in 1916 17.

Clocks to Move Forward One Hour Sunday

The Ministers Association of Oxford announces government time change. Clocks set forward one hour at 2 a m Sunday. Sabbath Schools meet at 9 30 a m and church services at 11 a m and 7 30 p m but on new time. Members urged to adjust Saturday evening to avoid lateness.
