Fatal Run Into Landslide Near Newark Cause Tragedy

Early morning eastbound Baltimore and Ohio train No 5 on the Central Ohio division struck a landslide east of Newark. The engine was derailed into the river. the fireman was killed. The engineer and a passenger engineer were badly injured. Passengers escaped unharmed aside from shock. Also included is unrelated historical legal prose on other cases and a presidential pardon in Minnesota.

Grady Monument Design Wins Backing for Atlanta Statue

Alexander Doyle of New York leads the competition for the Grady monument in Atlanta. A nine and a half foot bronze figure of Mr Grady will stand on a fifteen foot pedestal with bronze allegorical figures on the north and south faces. The Russian American National League held a greeting in Claremont Hall praising Czar Alexander II’s memory and calling for global ostracism of Russia.

Settlement Reaches Five Percent For Ives & Co Debts

New York readers report holders of ninety five percent of Henry Ives & Co indebtedness agree to settle at five cents on the dollar. Five percent consent expected soon as judge reduces bail for Ves and Stayner in the Cincinnati Hamilton Dayton Railroad suit. Cromwell says fourteen million debt, four million paid. creditors consent to five percent settlement as court may confirm. Also note France will not enforce blockade on Dahomey coast per Siecle.
