Open hearing set over Mississippi university chancellor charges

The Mississippi Board of Trustees scheduled an open session at the statehouse Saturday to hear charges of gross immorality against Chancellor J N Powers of the University of Mississippi, brought by Prof Roswell W Rogers. The hearing will be limited to specific charges with counsel for Powers and Rogers.

City Officials to Enforce Oxford Speed Rules

Notice to stockholders invites members and officers to gather at the Oxford Court House on Saturday June 18 at 1 PM to discuss funding for camp grounds repairs. Oxford Names Acting Postmaster A Moore Takes Oath

Oxford appoints H A Moore as acting postmaster to replace Charles A McCharen who resigned. Moore is praised as an efficient executive with a long tenure in Oxford. He served as assistant postmaster 1904 to 1908 and deputy clerk in the U S district court 1908 to 1919 before joining the chancery clerk's office.

Remains Arrive in Oxford for Petrie Funeral

The remains of Herbert Petrie son of Mr and Mrs C W Petrie and grandson of Dr Thomas D Isom died in St Louis were brought to Oxford on the 10 55 train Monday and interred in St Peter's Cemetery Rev W D Heddleston officiating Out of town mourners included Charlie Gale Ludley and Lem Petrie and Miss Mildred Petrie plus Hamilton of Jackson Mrs Petrie Hamilton of New Orleans and T D Isom of Burgess Mrs Powell visited Water Valley recently.
