Col H D Street Dies in Meridian at 88

Meridian Miss May 31 Col H D Street longtime Mississippi politician and banker died at his home at 88 after a brief illness. Street served four terms as speaker of the Mississippi House and held roles with Citizens National Bank and the Mobile & Ohio Railroad. He leaves a widow two daughters a son and other relatives. Burial will be at Booneville with funeral train from Meridian.

Chautauqua Opens Five Day Program At Public School

The Redpath Chautauqua arrives with a five day series at the public school grounds this afternoon. Ole Miss Ends Most Successful Season

The 1919 20 session of the University of Mississippi closed with Dr Paul Hill Saunders delivering the baccalaureate address and 114 degrees and diplomas awarded by Gov Lee M Russell. Saunders urged better state funding and alumni involvement as the university marked a standout year amid crowded conditions.
