Four African American soldiers stand trial in Dallas for a jail attack tied to an El Paso prison assault that killed a policeman and wounded four others. The case arose from a year and a half old incident. five soldiers faced charges, one became a witness for the prosecution. Venue changes brought the cases to Dallas.
In Exam, West Virginia a mob executes William Brooks a colored man who killed Chief of Police Robert Lilly. Brooks was captured after a pistol attack in a house duel and hanged from a park tree as Lilly lies dying in Cumberland Maryland from his wounds.
