Rumors report inmates on Hawkins Island Bermuda isolated as several suffer a mild seasickness like illness. Charles Preston of Middlesboro Kentucky drowned after attempting to save a girl riding a Powell River crossing Cumberland mountains. He later died in front of the child’s mother.

The Navy Department received a telegram from Admiral Mortimer L. Johnson stating Captain Richard P. Leary United States Navy died this morning at the Marine Hospital Chelsea. Elizabeth City North Carolina December 29 after weeks of mystery the body of Nell Cropsey was recovered from the river near her home by fisherman J D Stillman. The coroner and a jury concluded she was killed by a blow to the left temple and drowned with suspicions falling on James Wilcox who faces charges as the inquiry proceeds.
John W. Tay chief engineer for the Terminal road association and Sam A. Kent of Louisville were crushed to death when their open car stopped before an oncoming Wabash engine at the Merchants' T crossing north of St Louis. Mark Ewing survived. Bernard W. Frauenthal and the Schwabs escaped injury. The six men had been touring the new belt line of the Terminal road when the accident occurred.
