Fall festivals grow through the years with rich traditions
Ottawa hosts a busy autumn festival calendar featuring Power of the Past antique engine show begun in 1995 at Franklin County Fairgrounds under Franklin County Historical Society. Deb Barker predicted rapid growth, a forecast borne out as future themes include Minneapolis Moline tractors and Ottawa engines in 2021. The Power of the Past event has expanded to showcase about 2,123 vehicles this year, with roots traced to the Over the Road Gang. Maple Leaf Festival arose from a Baker University biology project, and now marks six decades of tradition.
