Local hero pastor saves neighbor from blaze in Kansas

In REAT BEND, Rev Doyle Smith plucked a woman from a smoke filled apartment after spotting flames and guiding her through a window. Paramedics treated Schenk for arm burns while Smith missed a birthday party at First Southern Baptist Church to change his smoke stained jacket. In Leavenworth, Sen Edward Reilly Jr and neighbor Rick Schneider entered a burning home to rescue a paralyzed resident, carried him out as smoke blocked vision, hours after an overloaded extension cord sparked the blaze. The fire was contained to the living room.
