Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center nearing completion

Dan Rowe of Treanor Architects told Franklin County commissioners that work on the new detention center at 226 S. Beech St. is on schedule with masonry, door frames, and holding cells nearing completion. He noted the gas line is installed and weather has not hindered progress. A minor brick color mix up was resolved through contractor cooperation with Loyd Builders.

County to pay back society's old Depot loan

Franklin County will pay off about 25,500 remaining on a loan taken by the Franklin County Historical Society a decade ago for Depot Museum repairs. The loan originated from a 618,000 grant and has seen about 12,000 repaid over ten years. County officials expect reduced long term debt and greater sustainability.
