Germany SFC Lawrence E Wilson of 1 Pao la is set to depart Germany for the United States this month under Operation Gyroscope at Ft Riley. PFC Thomas Kolacny of Baldwin, 20, in the 39th engineer battalion at Ft Riley, is a Baldwin High School graduate (1953) who attended Emporia State College. Sgt Rolan Duffield, son of Mr and Mrs Robert S Duffield, returns from Alaska after four months in Air Force photography work. He will be discharged in about a month. Victor Church, a U S Navy recruiter, is hospitalized at Fort Leavenworth after a car crash east of Ottawa. Jolene Brink performed piano and accordion pieces at the Sertoma club meeting. Jim Robinson showed color slides from a California trip at the Love and Loyalty club at his mother's home. Shirley Jones, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ivan Jones, left for Kansas University to begin her senior year living in Grace Pearson Hall.

Wellington Dewitt Morrison, 43, burned to death in a trailer home fire. Patrolman Ron Pile found the trailer ablaze around 2:45 A.M. and could not rescue Morrison.
PARIS Turkey assured NATO that all possible measures are being taken to prevent recurrence of anti Greek rioting. Reports from Athens said Greece canceled participation in NATO maneuvers after anti Greek violence in Istanbul and Izmir Tuesday night. NATO held a special session behind closed doors with delegates from 15 nations.
The Office of Education estimates about 39,772,000 students will be in school or college this year, rising by 1,685,500 from last year. With a population of 165,023,000, this expands enrollment to 24.1 percent. Commissioner Samuel M. Brownell cites a need for 141,300 more qualified teachers.
