In Shawnee Mission Lake divers searched for a high powered rifle believed bought Friday by Richard J. Patterson 24 whose body was recovered. Patterson had a bound feet and a concrete block weight and a single gunshot to the head. Police consider possible suicide. Patterson left home Sunday saying he would travel to San Diego to see his girlfriend Connie York 23. York said she had dated him four years and he was not the type to kill himself. She noted Patterson spoke of marijuana use after returning from Vietnam and allegedly bought and sold drugs. Johnson County authorities reported 19 drug arrests recently in the county where Patterson lived.
