Max Hetrick, Pomona, 86, dies. services in Ottawa
Max Hetrick, 86, of Ottawa died September 1 2003 at Ottawa Retirement Village. Funeral services will be at 10 30 a.m. Thursday at Lamb Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa. He was born February 8 1917 near Pomona to Clyde and Laura Hetrick. He farmed near Pomona and worked 11 years at Overbrook Livestock Barn and 30 years at Franklin County Livestock Barn in Ottawa. He also worked for the Corps of Engineers at Pomona Lake. He married Ivie Garber on October 5 1946 in Larned. she died in March 2003. Survivors include two stepdaughters Della Hamilton Pomona and Lois Ikenberry Montgomery Alabama, a stepson Ed Garber Ottawa, a sister Geneva Simons Richland Washington, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters Nina Hughes Edith Ratzlaff and Joyce Beardmore. Burial will be in Dean Cemetery north of Pomona. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lamb Roberts Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Franklin County Cancer Foundation or Midland Hospice care of Lamb Roberts Funeral Home Ottawa 66067.

June H. Orr 64 of Rantoul died Tuesday September 2 2003 at Olathe Medical Center. Funeral services set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Dengel and Son Mortuary with Rev. Richard Dunn officiating. She lived in Rantoul most of her life and held public roles including city council member 1997 to 2000 and mayor 2000 to 2001. Survivors include two sons two daughters and ten grandchildren. Ron Hunt, a 41 year old electrician, fell onto an 18 inch drill bit impaling his skull but survived without brain damage. Doctors removed the bit by unscrewing it after his ladder tipped during overhead drilling. His family calls it a remarkable, humorous recovery.
