Oskaloosa High Reopens After Mercury Contamination
Kansas eastern district reopened Oskaloosa High School after a mercury incident last week. About 50 students mishandled two pounds of mercury from a nursing home, contaminating several areas. Classes resumed for most. roughly 30 teachers and students were excused for health reasons. Environmental crews vacuumed the substance. blood tests showed no high mercury levels. The computer lab and a men’s restroom remained closed.

Samuel Adams associate professor of journalism at the University of Kansas received the 1996 special award for community service from the United Minority Media Association. Rare vampire repellent kit sells for 20700 dollars
A New York man won a $20,700 bid for a rare vampire repellent kit at Butterfield & Butterfield auction in San Francisco. The case, including a stake, poisons, pistol and dagger, was part of a European furniture collection and is believed to have come from a European hotel during World War I. The buyer was not identified.
