A 37-year-old Osawatomie woman reported a stray object struck her vehicle on John Brown Road near Princeton Sunday afternoon, injuring her 8-year-old daughter with facial cuts. Deputies are unsure a bullet caused the damage and are treating the incident as an accident. Two teenagers in a black car were suspected to be hunting nearby.

Marvin Norman II McReeves, 38, was found not guilty in Franklin County District Court of aggravated robbery, aggravated battery, and criminal restraint stemming from a August domestic dispute with his former wife Glenda J. Griffith. The jury deliberated about an hour after a mistrial was declared previously when he wore jail clothes. Griffith testified that a butcher knife was used and that she wrote a $5,000 check, while Barker argued the incident was a divorce tactic and noted delays before reporting to police.
Robert Greenfield of Greenfield and Davidson urged Ottawa to apply for the Main Street program at a Chamber luncheon. He cited it as the best framework for downtown renovation and tourism tied to historic preservation, noting communities like Northfield and Independence benefited from the designation and that winning requires strong local organization and funding.
