Fischer earns right to face world chess champion Spassky

Navy Nears Vietnamization Finish With Fewer Forces
SAIGON AP The US Navy nears completion of its Vietnamization plan leaving 24 river craft four bases and 14 radar stations to be turned over to South Vietnam. Navy to announce a Vietnamese officer will command a major base at Nha Be near Saigon before full transfer. Since 1968 the Navy has handed over 939 ships bases and radar stations and reduced forces from 35000 to 9700 men as Vietnamese navy grows to about 40000. In Cambodia the Spean Dek bridge is destroyed again by Viet Cong frogmen cutting a supply route to 20000 Cambodian troops. in South Vietnam small contacts reported and an American aircrew wounded after a downed plane. Typhoon Hester relief efforts continue with 100 million piasters pledged by Viet Cong groups per Chinese reports.
