Slim the Long Island python returns to class
HAUPPAUGE New York Slim the two foot snake that vanished from sixth grade science class at Hauppauge Middle School is back in its tank after a monthlong sabbatical. Principal Maryann Fletcher announced Slim is safe and in good condition after emerging from hiding Thursday evening. Custodians returned the reptile, and school officials speculate heat turned on may have driven Slim from its hiding spot while teachers handled another snake Otis. The snake resumes live demonstrations for science classes as the school notes vacation from the reptile was enjoyable with limited water and food supply.
