Dollar General zoning plan blocked in Wellsville

Wellsville planners vote 5-0 against rezoning 824 Chilton Ave from residential to commercial, derailing a proposed Dollar General in a largely residential neighborhood. Rex Allen of Wellsville welcomed the decision, though a future site at K-33 remains a possibility. The planning commission’s vote urges the city council, but does not bind final action.

Ottawa Education Association ratifies teachers contract

Ottawa district teachers voted overwhelmingly to approve a new contract Friday morning. Megan Morris, president of the Ottawa Education Association, expressed relief that the agreement removes a burden from teachers and allows focus on students.
