Known as the face for Meals on Wheels, she handles public relations and travels across six counties served by Mid-America Nutrition overseeing 25 senior centers.
Wellsville planners vote 5-0 against rezoning 824 Chilton Ave from residential to commercial, derailing a proposed Dollar General in a largely residential neighborhood. Rex Allen of Wellsville welcomed the decision, though a future site at K-33 remains a possibility. The planning commission’s vote urges the city council, but does not bind final action.
Ottawa district teachers voted overwhelmingly to approve a new contract Friday morning. Megan Morris, president of the Ottawa Education Association, expressed relief that the agreement removes a burden from teachers and allows focus on students. Morris said the deal shows teachers are willing to sacrifice for children in the classrooms and values public acknowledgment.
West Franklin School District officials consider a project based approach at Williamsburg Elementary to combat declining enrollment. Principal Robert Allen cites hands on learning, alignment with Common Core, and student engagement in agriculture, mechanical, and environmental projects. A trip to Walton Kansas will inform planning while avoiding direct copy.
