Former official sentenced for hazardous waste dumping
Alvin Donald Gaston, 62, former Montgomery County road and bridge superintendent, received two years probation and a $2000 fine after pleading guilty to directing burial of barrels containing hazardous paint at a closed county landfill in 1991. The landfill closed in 1986 and the barrels were exhumed in 1993. He must serve the first six months of probation at home.
