Debaters Host Novice Invitational At Ottawa High
Cyclone debaters hosted a 13-school Novice Invitational Saturday with 100 participants. The event on the China policy topic crowned Olathe East A as champion and saw Lawrence A finish second amid strong judging support from OHS students and community members. The squad will compete again October 28 at Osage City in an Open and Novice.

Baker names homecoming royalty at celebration
Baker University announced its homecoming royalty on Saturday. Queen Nancy Thomas of Louisburg, a physical education senior and daughter of Randy and Marita Thomas, was crowned. King Kurt Jones of Wichita, a chemistry senior and son of Dennis and Leslie Jones, was crowned.

Williamsburg Homecoming Parade Bonfire Event
A Williamsburg parade and bonfire program are planned at the Coppoc yard with a 6 p.m. start at Williamsburg High School parking lot on Wednesday. Elementary students may join face painting from 5:30 p.m. in the high school lot, followed by a bonfire open to all elementary, junior high, and high school students with admission at 2 dollars for adults and 1 dollar for students.

School board probes fire marshal inspection plans
Board members would like to join a fire marshal inspection of the building in the evenings if arranged. Superintendent Don Duncan announced a forthcoming district survey on its inclusion program with 55 teachers' written comments.
