Investigation Delays Missile Fuel Transfer Near Mayfield
At McConnell AFB Air Force says no Titan II propellant transfer at a Mayfield Kansas site will occur until final findings on an August leak at a Rock Kansas site are complete. Captain DeFend announced preliminary seal work may start today, pending Colonel Hampton’s review and safety assurances after the Rock accident. Representative Miller protested lack of local notification and guaranteed safety. Mayfield lies seven miles west of Wellington and about 32 miles southwest.
